Formed from a single disc of high strength Dept. of Transportation (DOT)-approved steel, these seamless cylinders are manufactured to assure uniform capacities.  The PST deep drawing process produces side walls with smooth inside and outside surfaces that are easy to clean and paint.  All cylinders meet DOT specifications. Standard sizes range from 22 cu. in. to 850 cu. in.  Capacity in pressure ranges from 1,800 to 5,000 psi.

Pressed Steel Tank is the foremost producer of 3HT cylinders in the world.  As one of the major contributors to the original design and concept of the lightweight aircraft cylinder, PST is acutely aware of the skills and diligence required to correctly manufacture this sophisticated high-pressure bottle.  Cylinders made in accordance with DOT3HT specs are designed and manufactured for aircraft use only.  They are similar to DOT3AA cylinders except are made to a higher allowable design stress and, therefore, have less wall thickness and a lower weight.
